THE equine community in the North-east of Scotland covers a huge geographical area and The Equines Times is keen to feature all the clubs, disciplines and training available so we can properly represent this vibrant sport and help it to develop further.
To highlight some of the specialised events and cover the clinics and training courses we have created this page where you can send in a short report and some images.

Training opportunities for future coaches
SCOTTISH Coaching Certificate Level 2 Equestrian Coaching Course training with Lorraine Buchan will be held in Peterhead at Lorraine Buchan Equestrian from March to June in conjunction with horsescotland.
Previous courses have already proved successful with qualified coaches now running their own thriving businesses in Scotland supporting all levels of riders on their equestrian journey.
Lorraine Buchan described the training as “practical, focused and horse-first” and designed to produce confident coaches who can communicate clearly with their clients, provide structure and real-world skills that actually benefit coaches and riders.
“If you are ready to turn your experience into a professional coaching pathway, then this is your next step,” said Lorraine.
The Scottish Coaching Certificate Level 2 Equestrian Coaching Course dates in conjunction with horsescotland are:
16th March online 7pm to 9pm
28th March in person 9am to 4pm
13th April online 7pm to 9pm
25th April in person 9am to 4pm
11th May online 7pm to 9pm
30th May in person 9am to 4pm
14th June in person 9am to 4pm

Day camp for novice and nervous riders
A DAY camp designed to boost confidence in novice or nervous riders willbe held at Lindores Equestrian, Fife, on 25th April.
Shelagh Steven will work with riders and their horses, starting with a group lesson in the arena in the morning and after lunch there will be a talk from Elaine Jenkins, Equine Physio, before an afternoon session of either a hack around Lindores Hill or more arena work. There is also the chance to try a few cross-country fences.
The cost of the camp is £150 which includes the two sessions with Shelagh, the physio talk, lunch and day stabling with bedding and hay. There is also the chance to add on a personalised equine physio assessment.

Coaching4All with the BHS
SESSIONS for the British Horse Society Coaching4All qualification in Aberdeen have started and will continue over the next few months with an assessment taking place in August.
Held at BHS-approved centres, candidates complete and present two case studies to show that they have supported two clients to work towards their equine goals, this is followed by a
discussion.
Short videos are submitted as part of the course along with the completion of two online
courses, the Mental Health First Aid Actions course and the Risk Awareness course.
Content includes legislation and policy in diversity, equity and inclusion; how to promote this
through coaching; creating an inclusive environment and promoting horse welfare and
wellbeing.
The entry requirements for Coaching4All are to hold the BHS Stage 2 Foundation Coach
qualification or above and Gold membership of the BHS, along with access to a varied client
base.
The courses are held at Aberdeen Riding Club, Nether Anguston, Aberdeen, or online. The first session has already taken place and will be followed by further sessions on 23rd March (online) from 10am to 12pm; on 13th April at the centre from 9am to 4.30pm; on 6th May (online) from 10am to 12pm; and on 1st June at the centre from 9am to 4.30pm. The online assessment is at the end of August, date to beconfirmed.

Training dates at Shoemakers Stables
New dates for training at Shoemakers Stables, Peterhead, have been released. There is training with Sammy Wiseman and Jen Morris Coaching during April, May and June.
The lessons and lunch with Sammy will take place in three groups, at 10am, 11am and 1pm with lunch between 12noon and 1pm and dietary requirements will be catered for.

20th May - Polework from afternoon to 7pm.
4th June - Grass arena from afternoon to 7pm.

Afternoon tea for the ladies to raise funds for Gordon RDA
GORDON RDA will hold a fundraising Ladies Afternoon Tea and disco at the Drouthy Laird, Inverurie on 3rd of May from 2pm.
There is fizz on arrival, afternoon tea, games and raffles along with DJ Georgieo Yer Mannie. Tickets are £40 each.
