AT Hayfield Equestrian Centre, Aberdeen, a number of clinics and training sessions will be held during April and May.

Sunday clinics for adult riders, which run from 1pm to 3pm, will take place on the following days:

·       April 5th - How to lunge

·       April 12th - Arena eventing

·       May 3rd - Gridwork

·       May 10th - Dressage

Pony racing strategy

Hayfield’s Pony Racing Academy have held their first meeting to work out a strategy for the pony racing season for 2026. Last year's racing season, using riding school ponies, was very successful with the ponies and riders racing at Kelso and Perth.

Backed by The Pony Racing Authority and funded by The Racing Foundation, pony racing is a great way to bring new riders into the sport as aspiring jockeys who may go on to race ride, become work riders or enter the industry as staff on racing yards.

The next 'Get Riding' session will be held on April 19th where those who have been out of the saddle for a while can meet the horses, groom them and then have a riding session.

The next Horse Care, Coffee and Cake session is on April 26th, these are suitable for people who have not been around horses before.

They can meet like minded people, have coffe and cake and learn about how to care for horses.

Time to plan for summer camp

The adult camp will take place on 4th and 5th July at the centre and is open to anyone over 18 years of age. With limited spaces, it is advisable to book soon. Get involved with vaulting

A number of riders also take part in the vaulting club which runs at Hayfield, the riders have regular sessions with Lorna McLean to improve their skills.
