East Aberdeenshire PC showing show and working hunter attracts nearly 200 entries

EAST Aberdeenshire branch of the Pony Club held its open unaffiliated showing show and working hunter at New Deer Showground in April, raising funds for training and equipment for the club members.
A committe of five Pony Club mums organised the event. Tara Forrest said: "It was a really successful show and even the sun came out!"
Three young riders/handlers who did well throughout the day were Pippa MacAngus (7) with her Welsh Section A and Kenzie McNeil and Kiara Buchan, who shared a Standard Shetland.
Pippa and Hope Tangwynn (Buster), a four-year-old grey Welsh, was described by Pippa's mum Becky as "officially a legend, he was just a superstar."
"I bought him from Birmingham and didn't take my daughter with me so it was a bit of a gamble but he is such a kind and very well put together pony. They qualified for the Caledonian Championships last year and have managed that again at the first show of the season this year."
Pippa now hopes to ride in some Scone qualifiers this year and will take part in Pony Club activities and camp along with fun rides and hacking throughout the summer.
Black Standard Shetland pony Harviestoun Sabre was ridden by Kiara Buchan (7) in his lead rein and first ridden classes and led by Kenzie Ives McNeil (15), who is the current UK GEMS Champion Handler, in the lead rein.
Kenzie's mum, Jacqueline, has loaned him for her and has asked Kiara to be his jockey for lead rein while Kenzie takes part in the more advanced classes.
Jacqueline said: "Kenzie has a team of miniature Shetlands and this was the first outing this year and Sabre made his lead rein debut in the show ring ably ridden by Kiara.
"As well as going champion in the turnout section, Sabre was reserve champion in the in-hand M&M section and ridden M&M."
Jacqueline described the show as "hugely successful" for the Shetland and his rider/handler. They now plan to attend agricultural shows and the North Of Scotland Shetland Pony Group show in the summer.
