BHS Scotland celebrates with its volunteers
BHS Scotland volunteers were at Balmalcolm Clydesdales during June to celebrate the work of their volunteers with a short awards ceremony.
Anne Marie French was presented with the 'You're a Gem' Award at the day. She joined the BHS in 2024 and has volunteered in the Lothians area, in particular promoting safe off-road access.

Lose the Blinkers is out and about
AS PART of Operation Lose the Blinkers, BHS Scotland was in Helensburgh during June educating drivers on how to react around horses.
In total, 34 drivers were stopped and educated on passing horses slowly and ensuring a good distance, whilst 24 drivers (including one biker) were commended for their driving around horses.
Police Scotland's Mounted Unit and the Road Policing Unit worked with BHS Scotland on the initiative - it was a result of incidents recorded on the BHS Horse i app in the area.
The BHS are encouraging riders to download the app to their phones to ensure they have a record of any incidents.
What should drivers do if they see a horse on the road?
Slow down to a max of 10mph
Be patient, don't sound the horn or rev the engine
Pass the horse wide and slow - at least two metres
Drive slowly away
